I love a challenge!

Happy Spring! I thought it would never get here!!!  The weather is beautiful today and I am aching to get out and enjoy it.  Sadly, it  may be short-lived with highs later in the week only about 37 degrees.  😦  On a happier note, I have a new goal! I like goals.  You might even consider me a goal-oriented person.

Scene Magazine (the local free newspaper) recently published an article on the “25 Restaurants Cleveland can’t live without.”  This list is filled with the best of the best that Cleveland has to offer.  And that doesn’t mean the most expensive or the trendiest.  These are Cleveland stand-outs without consideration of neighborhood, price-point or type of cuisine.

I have been to 11 restaurants on the list!  I’m pretty impressed with that BUT it’s not good enough for me.  I love eating locally.  I try to do so both when travelling and here at home whenever I can. Applebee’s is going to taste the same everywhere.  That may be safe, but it’s also BORING.   I also believe that supporting local entrepreneurs should be a goal for everyone!

So, with that in mind I have set a goal for myself to have eaten at every restaurant on the list by the end of summer.  I even created a page with each restaurant’s logo and put it up on my fridge to stay motivated…

As I mentioned, I have been to 11 of the restaurants, so technically I could do this…

…but I’m not going to.  Not yet anyway.  All 25 restuarants will be fair game.  The 11 I have been to will be like bonus points!

So, I have 2 seasons (spring and summer) to complete this challenge.  Summer officially ends on September 22.  That gives me 6 full months to complete my challenge.  Can I do it?  Only time will tell!

So, Clevelanders, how many of these restaurants have you been to?  Anyone wanna meet me at one for lunch or dinner?  You let me know what restaurant you are DYING to go to and we’ll make plans!

I’ll be updating the blog with my progress periodically.  Wish me good luck and good eats!!

I would schedule a lunch date to Superior Pho, but since I’m 6 1/2 hours away, I’d probably be late. Boo for long distance, but hooray for such a yummy challenge!
